Paul A. D’Avanzo, PhD

Paul A. D’Avanzo (he/him/his) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior, Society and Policy in the Rutgers School of Public Health. Dr. D’Avanzo joined the SPH faculty in August of 2025 and was previously a research fellow at Columbia University’s HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies. In addition to his role as teaching faculty, D’Avanzo is also the Interprofessional Education coordinator for the School of Public Health, the SPH representative for the Rutgers Health IPE Faculty Advisory Council, and facilitates the biannual Making Difficult Decisions with Patients and Families IPE event. D’Avanzo is himself an interprofessional educator and researcher. He is a consultant and frequent trainer for the Northeast and Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center (NECA AETC), which provides HIV and STI treatment and prevention training for nurses, social workers, pharmacists and other health professionals.
